New Catchment Restoration Development Officer for East Lammermuir

Published Categorised as Updates

Hello, my name is Jenny Gries, and I am the new Catchment Restoration Development Officer for East Lammermuir. My current focus is on meeting landowners in the Spott and Dry burn catchments to better understand how the land is being managed, and to discuss the challenges and opportunities of working in a time of growing significant environmental and economic pressure.

I am also sharing findings from the Spott and Dry burn surveys completed earlier this year by Forth Rivers Trust. Where landowners are interested in working with us, we are developing practical project packages, taking on the administration, and doing the background work needed to take forward to funders over the coming financial year, making the process as straightforward as possible. The aim of the river project is to connect fragmented habitats across the catchments, support productive land use and help create a thriving, sustainable landscape for future generations.

I look forward to meeting many more East Lammermuir landowners and managers in the months ahead and working with those who share these aims.
